Rostam, a founding member of Vampire Weekend and writer/producer of albums by Haim and Clairo, as well as singles by Frank Ocean and Solange, has completed a full-length album! This is a solo project by Rostam Batmangli, a founding member of Vampire Weekend and regarded as "one of the greatest pop and indie rock producers of today". The artist, who has released not only his own songs but also many others, has released his second album, which he has been working on for the past three years. I was talking to him about the changes I had experienced in my life. He told me, "Change is good. Transphobia, Biphobia, Homophobia. These words seem to express fear as well as threat. Fear of change, fear of the unknown, fear of a less familiar future, fear of changing traditions, definitions, and power structures.Gender was also always on my mind while working on this album. I realized that although I write about love and connection with others, I don't want to frame my relationships with people in terms of gender. The songs on this album do not celebrate the fear of change. In fact, they are quite the opposite. They are about people who can recognize their own fears and grow from them.
