Beginning with “Scenes of Sound”—notable for its lustrous string tones rich in resonance—the seven new pieces composed since 2010 all create refreshing sonic spaces defined by his distinctive sensibility. This second album explores new territory through diverse ensemble configurations—including works that incorporate electronics alongside traditional acoustic sounds, as well as a trio featuring traditional Japanese instruments. The performances by the ensemble, led by German violinist Keckert, are outstanding.\n\n\u003cnoriyasu tanaka\u003e\nNoriyasu Tanaka\nBorn in Tokyo. After attending the High School Affiliated with the Kunitachi College of Music, he graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music with degrees in composition and instrumental music (organ).\nHis works have been broadcast on NHK-FM and by media outlets in the United States and South Korea, and have been performed not only in Japan but also at music festivals in Germany (Berlin, Bonn, Wasserburg), Austria (Vienna, Salzburg), France (Paris), the Nordic countries (Copenhagen, Oslo), Belgium (Antwerp, Leuven), South Korea (Seoul, Daegu, Masan), the United States (New York), and Mexico (Mexico City, Morelia), performed by renowned artists.\nThe Austrian label VMM (Vienna Modern Masters) released two albums in 1994 as a chamber music collection (Noriyasu Tanaka: Chamber Music): Vol. I (VMM2011) and Vol. II (VMM2036) in 2002, respectively. Additionally, in 2001, the ensemble work “Darkness,” a collaboration with South Korean composers and poet Lee Seung-soon featuring traditional Korean instruments, was released on CD (in South Korea).
