The album features a refreshing march by the lesser-known C. T. Smith; “Disco Kid,” a competition piece that remains popular to this day; and a new work by Masanori Taruya, building on the momentum of “Magellan.” Furthermore, with a wide range of expression and a vivid sound, the ensemble has brilliantly revived the classic “Festival in Mexico,” composed nearly half a century ago. The guest artist on this album is Mikio Nitta, principal trombonist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. His performance of Eweisen’s “Visions of Light”—recorded for the first time in Japan—is not only technically outstanding but also brimming with musicality. The Toke Civic Band continues to evolve. This album offers a glimpse into their new creative journey.
