This production features Leonid Sarafanov (Principal), a young star of the Mariinsky who is already well-known in Japan, and Irina Golub (Second Soloist), who, alongside Somore, is renowned at this theater for her striking visual presence—making it an absolute must-see for ballet fans. Needless to say, led by Sarafanov—who boasts exceptional physical ability—the quality of the dancing is in no way diminished, despite this being a non-traditional production. Furthermore, while cuts and rearrangements of the musical order are common in standard ballet performances, this release features a completely uncut version, making it a delight—and a rare treat—to savor Tchaikovsky’s score from start to finish.
