The orchestra has previously released Symphony No. 9 (ACC.10381BD\/ACC.20381DVD) and Symphonies Nos. 6 \u0026amp; 7 (ACC.10413BD\/ACC.20413DVD) on video, and this release of Symphony No. 5 and the Triple Concerto completes the video trilogy. This is Blomstedt's second recording with the Staatskapelle Dresden, having not recorded any Beethoven works during his tenure with the orchestra. The highlight of this video is the Triple Concerto with its splendid soloists.Although there are not as many performances as one might think, since it requires three soloists, this is a definitive recording of the piece, with Isabelle Faust on violin, Jean-Gian Kellas on cello, and Martin Helmchen on piano, all of whom are among the finest soloists in the world. The final movement of the piece is a masterpiece of the solo instrument and orchestra. The solo instruments and orchestra give a spectacular performance in the final movement.
