The venues are all in the Gewandhaus. Regner, who was active in East Germany, was so popular in Japan that he served as the permanent conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra from 1984 to 1989, and even 20 years after his death, he still has devoted fans. Although there are quite a few recordings of Reagner's music, most of them are with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, which he was the permanent conductor for a long time, and there are not many recordings of his later years in the 1990s. These four CDs are a valuable record of Regner's activities in his hometown in his later years. Reagner excelled at German Romantic music, and his performances of Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, and Reger are all excellent and rich in traditional German flavor. On the other hand, Ravel and especially Gershwin are rare. The crisp, non-swinging \"An American in Paris\" is also interesting.
