At one point, he was poised to be hailed as “Handel’s rival,” but he is also known for having declined that title himself. Although he was highly regarded and popular during his lifetime, like many composers of that era, he was eventually forgotten as time passed. Now, more than 300 years later, Barna-Sabadus has stepped forward to breathe new life into Hasse’s works.
