Umeko Ando (1932-2004) is an Ainu musician from Hushikokotan, Obihiro, Hokkaido. Together with OKI of the Oki Dub Ainu Band, who participated in the recording, she sang the Ainu folk song Upopo. The call-and-response structure of many of the songs is performed in an elastic, breathy vocal style with a mantra-like quality. There seems to be a gentle smile on every note and syllable. This music gently touches the heart. Upoposanke\" was recorded on a farm in Tokachi in the summer of 2003. Dogs barking, thunder rumbling in the distance, and voices imitating animals can be heard. The accompanying liner notes collect anecdotal memories of Umeko Ando's 14 song stories. Partially re-mixed by OKI for this release, mastered and cut by Kassian Troyer, the 45rpm version sounds great, and the album is a great example of the kind of music that can be heard on the album.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Pingipung","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45855374049569,"sku":"4250101452475","price":6790.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4250101452475.jpg?v=1689845090","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4250101452475","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
