The world’s first recording of the complete Naples version!\n\nSince September 2021, he has served as cantor (Thomaskantor\/ music director) at the historic St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. He has attracted significant attention as a cantor of a new era, not least because he is a Swiss Catholic (whereas previous St. Thomas cantors were Protestant Germans). Reitze, who bears the heavy responsibility and great tradition of being the 18th Thomaskantor since J.S. Bach, has recorded Monteverdi’s late masterpiece *The Coronation of Poppea*, a monumental work!\n\nNo original autograph score of *The Coronation of Poppea* survives; the work is known only through two manuscript copies—the so-called “Venetian manuscript” and the “Neapolitan manuscript” (both of unknown authorship and containing only the vocal parts and basso continuo).
