Rathke, who was exposed to Strauss's music as a student and has always played a major role in his repertoire, and won the 1997 Richard Strauss Competition in Munich, has selected five of Strauss's rich Lieder (excerpts) from more than 200 works, and delivers them in a rich and sumptuous performance. The program will feature five of Strauss's most richly rewarding Lieder (excerpts), selected from more than 200 works by the Strauss dynasty. Thomas Rathke, a baritone singer born in Stuttgart, won first prize at the Richard Strauss Competition in Munich in 1997.
