He studied composition in Leipzig under Karl Reinecke, Richard Hoffmann, and others. His sacred choral works are highly regarded. He did not embrace the new styles of his time but remained true to the Romantic style.\nAll of Wetz’s choral works included in this recording are unaccompanied. They possess a traditional sound for 20th-century works and differ in style from those of his contemporaries, such as Ravel and Debussy. It is precisely for this reason that one can fully appreciate the rich sound so well suited to church music. Ad Astra’s crystal-clear performance won me over with its meticulous and thoughtful interpretation, perfectly suited to these works. The Passacaglia and Fugue, included at the end of the album, also contribute to its overall atmosphere.\nAd Astra Vocal Ensemble (Chorus): Founded in Thuringia in 2025 by choral conductor Lucas Tobias Sommer, the ensemble has already established a broad presence through its performances ranging from classical to contemporary music. The group’s name is derived from the Latin phrase “Per asperas ad astra”—“Through hardships to the stars.”\nLucas Tobias Sommer (Choral Conductor): He has served as conductor of the Zu Sing Academy since 2021 and of the Erfurt Philharmonic Choir since 2024. After initially studying at the Clara Wieck High School and the Robert Schumann Conservatory, he studied under Kerstin Behnke, Jürgen Puschbeck, Eckhard Witzig, and Morten Schult-Jensen. In 2025, he founded the Ad Astra Vocal Ensemble, with which he remains active.\nKilian Homburg (Organ): Born in Bonn, Germany, in 2000. He studied organ at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music under Martin Sturm and Nicola Prokaccini. He studied church music at the Mendelssohn Academy of Music in Leipzig under Martin Schmeding, Andreas Reize, and Thomas Renartz. He has achieved outstanding results in numerous competitions. He currently teaches at the Weimar Academy of Music while performing in concerts, on television, and on the radio.\nTobu Shoji Co., Ltd.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Querstand","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53082769981729,"sku":"4025796025149","price":2365.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4025796025149.jpg?v=1785152954","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4025796025149","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
