While some tracks—such as readings of letters and biographical excerpts—may be somewhat challenging, this promises to be a valuable anthology offering the chance to hear rare works by Mendelssohn and his contemporaries.\n\nThe Iturraga Quartet, which performs the tracks on the first disc, was founded in Leipzig in 1996. Praised for their distinctive style, exceptional technique, and the strong trust among its members, they won first place at the European Broadcasting Union competition in 2000. They have been expanding their performance venues to include famous concert halls and major music festivals across Europe, as well as South Korea in 2003 and South America in 2006. And now, they’ve finally arrived in Japan! You can look forward to their performance.\nThe second disc features art songs and letters by Mendelssohn.
