This highly anticipated second release is an album featuring all four orchestral suites by Johann Bernhard Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach’s first cousin.\n\nJohann Bernhard was born in Erfurt in 1676 and received his first musical instruction from his father, who was also a musician. In 1695, he became an organist in his hometown; he subsequently served as an organist in Magdeburg and Eisenach, as well as a court musician for the Duke of Saxe-Eisenach, and died in Eisenach in 1749. As a composer, he focused primarily on organ works, but most of these have been lost; these four orchestral suites are representative of his surviving works. It is known that special parts were prepared exclusively for the great J.S. Bach during performances of these works.\n\nThe Thuringian Bach Collegium recorded these works in Eisenach, where J.B. Bach spent his final years.
