This year's program focuses on works from his stay in Vienna (1838-39), including \"Fantastic Scene,\" which vividly depicts the carnival he enjoyed in Vienna, \"Flower Song,\" a beautiful piece that his wife Clara deeply loved, and \"Humoresque,\" one of the most famous works of his career. Several pieces that were not published at the time of composition but were included in the later published collections \"Album Spellings\" and \"Colorful Pieces\" are also excerpted and included in this album.The fourth piece, \"Piano Piece in D flat major,\" is a performance of the first draft score of the first 22 bars of \"Flower Music,\" op. 19. Its content is almost the same as the beginning of the completed work, but even in just over a minute of the short piece, there is enough charm to smell the beauty of the original piece. Compared to the third album (98 646), which is filled with Schumann's unpublished works, this is a relatively major title in the series so far! Ulrich's performance is again intelligent and full of poetic sentiment.
