She studied under Gérard Boulez at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. She has won many prizes, including the first prize at the Paris Bach International Violin Competition and a special prize at the Lipitzer International Competition, and continues to give energetic concerts in the fields of solo and chamber music.The album includes Prokofiev's last sonata for violin, a superbly difficult piece by the great 20th century violinist Natan Milshteyn based on the theme of Paganini's famous Caprice No. 24, and a piece by Claude Pascal, a composer who had a close friendship with Ms. Kuroda. The album contains a wide variety of works, including a piece dedicated to Ms. Kuroda, which is rich in esprit de corps. Yuri Kuroda is not well known in Japan, perhaps because he lives in Europe, but he has a solid technique and a lustrous tone.
