The group is led by Frente Cumbiero, who is well known for his collaboration with the Minyo Crusaders, as well as Meridian Brothers, Los Piranhas, and Confundo Papa Upa, all of whom are leading the scene of what might be called "alterna-latin". The long-awaited debut of the new project Nkumba System, led by guitarist Guillo Cross of Lomperajo, who plays a part in the group. Recorded in Bogota and Paris, the music seamlessly blends not only the Colombian dance music of cumbia and champeta, but also chicha, macossa, lingala, desert blues, and more. Just as records imported from Africa were played nightly on Colombian sound systems in the past, and unique bands were born under the influence of these records, the dance component of many dance music that was introduced from the African continent to South America and its influences has been extracted and condensed. This is a record that you can dance to all the way through!
