Schumann wrote one early work and four others for four hands, but the players mostly focus on \"Pictures from the East,\" which is said to have been inspired by an 11th-century Arabic poem, and is a masterpiece with the lively rhythms typical of Schumann. Brahms' \"Variations on a Theme by Schumann\" takes its theme from Schumann's \"Variations on a Theme of the Spirit. It is one of Brahms' rarely performed four-hand works, but it consists of 10 variations, the last of which is a funeral march to Schumann.Dvorak's fifth work, \"Silence of the Woods,\" is a masterpiece often taken out and performed in other formations by Dvorak himself. The Geister Duo's flawless ensemble delivers synchronized rhythms, astonishing balance, and rich sound. = Geister Duo (David Salmon \u0026amp; Manuel Vieillard) = 2nd Prize in the Duet category of the 2019 International Schubert Competition and 1st Prize in the Piano Duo category of the 2021 Munich International Competition. Both were born in Paris and studied at the Regional Conservatory of Paris. On the train to the academy in the south of France, their tastes in pianists and composers matched so perfectly that they hit it off and decided to form a piano duo. They both studied piano performance at the Hans Eisler Conservatory in Weillard and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris (Salmont), respectively. As a duo, they studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris with Claire Désert, and have appeared at numerous music festivals and concerts, including the 2020 La Folle Journée Festival in Nantes, where they performed all of Beethoven's four-hand works.
