The program features the captivating works of Barber and Korngold. Accompanied by Jun Märkl and the prestigious London Philharmonic Orchestra, Huang brings these two works to life with his delicate yet rich and resonant violin tone.\nAustrian-born composer Korngold fled to the United States in 1936 under pressure from the rise of Nazism and was hailed by Mahler as a “musical genius.” Although he composed numerous film scores in Hollywood, this recording boldly draws on thematic material from his early film music. The works of the American composer Barber capture the atmosphere of 1930s America while evoking the vast American landscape and the industrial vitality of New York. The slow movement seems to powerfully express the turmoil, uncertainty, and despair characteristic of the Great Depression era.\nKorngold, whose rich Romantic style was transformed through his experience with film music, and Barber, whose deeply emotional sincerity and lyrical voice are rooted in American soil. The two works are performed in a way that savors their beauty while highlighting their beautiful melodies. Merkle, too, brings out the true value of these two masterpieces through subtle control of tone, meticulous ensemble playing, and at times, a stern expression.\n\nPaul Huang is a Taiwanese-American violinist. He began playing the violin at age 7 and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. He has performed with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra conducted by Gergiev, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra conducted by Slatkin, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Luigi, the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra conducted by Merkle, and the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra. He has performed at Lincoln Center, the Lucerne Festival, and music festivals around the world. In chamber music, he has collaborated with Gil Shaham, Nobuko Imai, Mischa Maisky, and Daniel Bronfman. He is active on the global stage, serving as a soloist for the NHK Symphony Orchestra’s 2024 tour of Taiwan and the Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2025 tour of Japan.\nNAIVE\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naive","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52776485093665,"sku":"3700187681210","price":3771.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/3700187681210.jpg?v=1779963782","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/3700187681210","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
