The remarkable pianist Tien-Chi Du performs Bach's piano concertos with all his might! The up-and-coming Chinese pianist Tianqi Du, whose recording of \"Goltberg Variations\" (KKC-6619\/V-7566) was praised worldwide as \"reminiscent of Glenn Gould\" and won a special prize in the June 2023 issue of Record Geijutsu (Recorded Arts), has made his CD debut and his tour in Japan in 2023 has attracted a lot of attention. His second CD is a collection of Bach's keyboard concertos! Tienchi Du says that he chose keyboard concertos as the next recording after \"Golteberg Variations\" because of his \"intuition as an artist\". He was deeply impressed by the first movement of BWV1052 when he was a child, and listened to it so much that every note was etched in his head. He was also deeply moved to tears by the second movement of BWV1054 a few years ago, and this personal experience led him to choose this recording. He also sees in Bach's keyboard concertos, which were performed for music-loving audiences in Leipzig as part of the repertoire for concerts at Café Zimmermann, a different \"essence of Bach as a lively human being\" from the masterpieces of his later years, such as the \"Golteberg Variations\" and \"Technique de la Fugue,\" and in the keyboard concertos in the Italian style, which express \"dramatic richness of feeling. The keyboard concerto, which utilizes the Italian style of music, expresses \"dramatic and rich emotions. This attitude is demonstrated in this performance, which seems to emphasize inspiration rather than scholarly aspects. In particular, the thoughtful, poetic, and emotional expression in the second movement with its gentle tempo is so romantic that it is rare today! On the other hand, the balance between the right and left hands, the phrasing, and the improvisational ornamentation also show the use of historical techniques, and the fusion of these different styles is a major attraction of Tien-Chi's performance. The performance is conducted by Jonathan Bloxham, an up-and-coming British conductor, with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, a renowned chamber orchestra founded by master musician Neville Marriner (known in Japan as the Academy Chamber Orchestra). He studied conducting under Paavo Järvi and was assistant to Milga Grazinite-Thyla at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Here, he is joined by the Academy's fine musicians in a rich \"musical dialogue\" with Théncie Du. Please enjoy Tien-Chi Du's emotional performance of Bach, which appeals to contemporary audiences with a lot of feeling!
