Following his mentor’s passing, Mrs. Sherman entrusted Min-seong with Sherman’s annotated score. This recording was realized based on that score and Min-seong’s study of Sherman’s approach to sound. Furthermore, this album represents the culmination of Mins’ musical journey—a journey that began in 2008 when a wrist injury forced him to take a hiatus from his career. From there, he rebuilt his technique from the ground up, completely transforming his physical relationship with the piano and gaining deeper musical insights that have influenced all his subsequent performances. Through this long process of self-renewal, he ultimately arrived at Bach. “We live in an increasingly hectic and restless world. Bach’s music urges us to slow down, pause, listen more attentively, and reconnect with something deeper. In addition to his career as a performer, Son is widely respected as one of the leading piano teachers of our time.
