Momen has captivated audiences with the rich resonance created by performing early works—originally written for the harpsichord—on a modern grand piano. For this album, she shifts the setting from England to France and moves the era two generations forward to explore the music cultivated at the court of Louis XIV, particularly at the Palace of Versailles. Louis XIV, who was himself a ballet dancer and an accomplished musician skilled in playing many instruments, hosted concerts, balls, and lavish celebrations in the palace’s “Hall of Mirrors.” On this album, Mishka presents keyboard works by two masters—François Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau—as well as by the largely unknown composer Élisabeth Jacquet de La Gère. Couperin was one of Louis XIV’s first royal chapel organists. The warmth, brilliant resonance, and musical language of this music—composed for the grand spaces of the Palace of Versailles—are exceptionally well-suited to performance on the modern grand piano. Jaquet de La Guère demonstrated astonishing talent as a child prodigy at the court of Louis XIV and later became France’s first great female composer. This recording features his “Suite No. 2 in G minor,” which pays homage to Louis Couperin while incorporating more dramatic and flamboyant Italian-style elements. This is the first time this work has been recorded for piano. Rameau’s “Suite in E minor” depicts a unique musical world by combining traditional dance forms of the time with Scottish and Irish-style jigs, as well as unconventional, character-driven pieces such as “The Song of the Birds.”\n\n“Well-balanced musical depictions, rich compositions, beauty, charm, wit, and heart-stirring ornamentation”—*BBC Record Review*\nUniversal Music\/IMS\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Hyperion","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53419251794209,"sku":"34571284842","price":3490.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/34571284842.jpg?v=1788227607","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/34571284842","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
