While many of Bach’s harpsichord concertos are believed to be arrangements of his own earlier works—and attempts to reconstruct the lost original versions have become widespread—the violin concertos featured here are based on surviving original scores. This series can be described as one that is strictly committed to performing exactly what Bach wrote.\nThe solo parts are performed by Belgian harpsichordist Mario Serraccia and Taiwanese harpsichordist Hsiu-Tzu Ryan. For the violin concertos, Sigiswald Kuijken himself serves as the soloist. In keeping with La Petite Bande’s signature approach, the orchestra is also performed with a single musician per part.
