Mozart revived for the modern age! Striking harmony, brilliant improvisation, and a recording using Mozart's beloved \"Visavi\", a Stein instrument born in 1777, Steyer and Schornsheim, a dream duo, play together! From the very first piece, \"Prelude\", Steyer goes on a rampage, which is so extreme that it will take the listener's heart out of his\/her sleeve. In Mozart's time, \"Preludes\" were often improvised by pianists to show off their own sense and skill. For pianists who said, \"I can't improvise,\" the \"Preludes\" of the time were written down in musical notation (of course, some were played before the main piece, such as a sonata, or to check the condition of the instrument). The Prelude recorded here is truly Mozart's genius for improvisation as recorded in the score. Here is a miraculous performance that cannot be heard anywhere else. And the instruments are even more amazing! The Stein-made \"Visavi\" (1777) instrument used in this recording is a huge rectangular instrument with keys on two short sides, designed for two players to play facing each other. One side is a piano with one keyboard and the other side is a harpsichord with two or three keys. One of the keys on the harpsichord side is for the piano and works with the piano keyboard on the other side. There are only two such instruments in existence, including the one used in this recording. Mozart had visited Stein's piano workshop in 1777 and was very fond of the Stein piano. In a letter to his father, he wrote that he had liked the Späth pianos best, but after hearing the Stein pianos, he decided that they were better. Mozart probably liked the gorgeous, intense tone of the Stein piano and its responsiveness to the player. The instruments are amazing, the music is precious, and the performance is truly a miraculous masterpiece. It is a tremendous piece of music. In this recording, (1) originally consists of four parts, but only the longest part of them (the part including the modulation from C major to B-flat major) is performed. The six dances in the final piece were arranged by Schornsheim and Steyer from the orchestral version.
