(SACD HybridD) SACD 5.0 & Stereo CD Stereo,HDCD 77'45 REFERENCE RECORDINGS has long been highly acclaimed for its high sound quality, and sound mirror, which has been responsible for recording not only REFERENCE RECORDINGS but also PENTATONE, BIS, and many other labels with an established reputation for their recordings for over 40 years, has joined forces with REFERENCE RECORDINGS and sound mirror to produce the highly acclaimed "Pittsburgh Live! which has been recording for Pentatone, BIS, and many other established labels for over 40 years, have teamed up to produce the highly popular "Pittsburgh Live! series. The 15th installment of the series features Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, timed to coincide with the bicentennial of Bruckner's birth, and "Les Lército" by contemporary American composer Mason Bates, commissioned by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in honor of Manfred Honeck's 60th birthday. Bruckner began composing the first movement of his Seventh Symphony in September 1881, shortly after the completion of his Sixth Symphony, in St. Florian, where he spent the summer. The score for the finale was completed on September 5, 1883. The first performances were given in Leipzig on December 30, 1884, under Artur Nikisch, and in Munich on March 10, 1885, under Hermann Levy, with great success. This work is said to have been greatly influenced by various events that occurred during the composition of No. 7, including the fire at the Ringtheater in Vienna on December 8, 1881, the world premiere of "Parsifal" (July 30, 1882), which Bruckner attended, and Wagner's death (February 13, 1883). The work is also dedicated to King Ludwig II of Bavaria, a generous patron of Richard Wagner. The "first edition" was published during Bruckner's lifetime, in 1885, the year after his first performance. The original editions by the International Bruckner Society were published in 1944 for the Haas edition (first complete edition) and in 1954 for the Novak edition (second complete edition).Although Bruckner himself did not make major revisions to this piece, as he did to Nos. 1-4 and 8, there were many transformations and changes that led to its creation, based on the advice of and discussions with Bruckner and his pupils and colleagues Franz and Josef Schalk and Ferdinand Löwe. and discussions with them, many transformations and changes were made. Some of these can be found in the autographs, while others appear for the first time in the first edition. Therefore, due to differences in interpretation of the remaining autographs and documents, there are several passages that show differences between the first edition, the Haas edition, and the Novak edition. Honeck has been associated with Bruckner's works since his days as a member of the Vienna Philharmonic, and his deep insight and musical interpretations provide listeners with a deep understanding of Bruckner's character.
