It is truly a \"meditation enveloped in sound.\" It is the latest installment in his large-scale “electro-choral” works for voice, strings, piano, and electronics. The title is taken from “Eternity in an Hour,” a poem from the 18th-century English poet William Blake’s masterpiece *Auguries of Innocence*, specifically the famous opening lines: (I see a world in a grain of sand \/ And a heaven in a wild flower \/ holding infinity in the palm of his hand \/ and finding eternity in an hour”) from *Auguries of Innocence*, the title is taken from the poem’s famous opening lines, “Eternity in an Hour.” This album explores the relationship between the opening stanza of the poem and “granular synthesis,” a synthesizer technique that treats sound as individual grains. Whitaker “deconstructs” the original poem, extracting fragments of words from individual lines for each movement, and sets only those fragments to music. *Eternity in an Hour*, which fuses the electronica and synthesizers he has long loved with his own choir, the “Eric Whitacre Singers,” strings, and piano, can be considered the culmination of Whitacre’s life as a musician. It premiered at the 2024 BBC Proms. CD 2 features a collection of ambient remixes titled *Auguries of Innocence*, based on *Eternity in an Hour*. Whitaker is also known as a charismatic speaker and has given lectures at United Nations agencies, among other venues.\n\n“I have been captivated by this poem for many years. What I sensed in the music behind Blake’s words was a kind of ‘longing for the present moment.’ It’s almost a guide to how he truly lived in the moment, a method he devised… ‘Even in simplicity, there is perfection’” (Eric Whitaker)\n“The music was cinematic, meditative, soothing, and truly unforgettable”—Limelight website\n\n*Digisleeve format\nUniversal Music\/IMS\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Decca","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53419248156961,"sku":"28948722464","price":3790.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/28948722464.jpg?v=1788227584","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/28948722464","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
