The recording won the 67th Grammy Award for \"Best Opera Recording\". Saariaho was also nominated for \"Best Contemporary Classical Composer. Esa-Pekka Salonen, a lifelong friend of Saariaho's, will conduct the San Francisco Symphony, with soloists Axel Fagno, Nicholas Huang, and Christopher Purves, in addition to Fleur Baron in the title role, and Peter Sellars, another friend of Saariaho, will direct. The production was directed by Peter Sellars, who was also a friend of Cirriaho. The recording was made in June 2023 at Davis Symphony Hall in San Francisco, just days after the composer's untimely death. Saariaho was one of the leading world-class composers of his generation, having studied composition in Helsinki, Freiburg, and Paris, and had been based in Paris since 1982. Her studies and research at the Institut de Recherche et de Musique Acoustique de France (IRCAM) in Paris had a profound influence on her music, blending live performance and electronic sounds to create her unique rich and mysterious textures.\n\n\n\nThe opera \"Adriana Martel\" is Saariaho's second opera, a moving work set in a war-torn country about a mother-son relationship that overcomes the violence that dominates the past, the present, and almost steals the future.\n\n\n\nEsa-Pekka Salonen, who gave the world premiere of the work at the Opéra National de Paris in April 2006, said, \"Eighteen years later, I return to this wonderful score in San Francisco as an older and more experienced musician than before. The news of Kaya's passing came during rehearsals for the performance with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra that is included on this recording. It is such a comfort to be able to share this work with the world, and it is thanks to a friend who remains one of the most important figures in my life,\" he wrote in the liner notes.\n\n\n\n(UNIVERSAL MUSIC\/IMS)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dgg (Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51105744027937,"sku":"28948666751","price":3890.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/28948666751.jpg?v=1743422205","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/28948666751","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
