Zimmermann praises Brahms, saying, "All of Brahms' chamber music, including the sonatas, trios, and clarinet quintets, is out of this world. There is not an insignificant work among them," he says. Zimmermann's passion for chamber music dates back to his childhood and has continued ever since. He says, "All great composers have some kind of piano. All great composers have composed quartets that include some kind of piano. It is often overlooked, but it adds a wonderful richness to the history of music. Of Brahms's three piano quartets, the most famous is No. 1 in G minor, but Zimmermann would rather focus on the sometimes overlooked No. 2 and No. 3, hoping that they too will receive the attention they deserve. I especially love the third quartet. It's a wonderful piece, very powerful.
