This two-CD series of six titles, released by Eloquence, focuses on the evolution of this violinist, who was reborn as the postwar classical soloist “Campoli.” This CD is the third installment in the series. Even as he evolved, Campoli retained his natural flair for popular music and a cheerful sensibility, which lends grace and elegance to this collection of encores and short pieces. CD 2 was originally released by Decca in February 1955 to commemorate the 80th birthday of Kreisler, a pioneer of Campoli’s artistry. All recordings in the “Alfredo Campoli: Bel Canto Violin” series have been newly remastered from the original Decca master tapes.
