François Couturier, who began playing the piano at the age of six, was influenced not only by classical music but also by jazz pianists such as Chick Corea and Joachim Kühn; he excels at improvisation and is known for his genre-transcending expression. This collaboration between the two is truly “music without genres”; even the music of Montpou—which is usually serious and even obscure—takes on a friendly, lighthearted quality here.
