Mirror-surface CDs are CDs that have had the polycarbonate signal surface removed, so that the laser beam directly reads the signals embedded in the metal surface, reproducing a truly astonishing sound. Unfortunately, mirror-surface CDs are currently not portable, and their playback is limited to experimental listening in the factory due to various restrictions. We have experimented with the possibility of making a digital copy of the sound of the mirror CD and using it as a master for a regular CD, and have succeeded in producing a CD that is almost as good as the mirror CD in terms of both data and auditory perception. Because of the nature of mirror CDs, analog discs, which inevitably cannot avoid scratch noise, are not suitable as sound sources, so we used the data sources provided by the company. First, the Beethoven by Schuricht and Kluitens. Not only is the sound of the Beethoven music in a different dimension from that of the previously released discs, but you can really see how Beethoven's music is constructed three-dimensionally by their sticks. This is a good example of how the improvement in sound quality elevates the conductor. What is curious about this CD is that the sound is much better when the CD is made from a mirror CD than when it is made directly from the master. Please check it out with your own ears. The Mozart remastering with Haskil that we have included in Schuricht's marginal notes is a rare one that captures Haskil's piano with great clarity, and should be enough to avenge Haskil's reputation for giving it his all at the rehearsal and not performing at the actual concert. We guarantee that this CD will be listened to for many years to come.
