Antonello Manacorda is a conductor who is currently receiving hot attention in Europe. Born in Turin, he started as a violinist who studied with the master musicians Klebers and Gulli. Since 2011, he has been the Principal Conductor of the Kammerakademie Potsdam (KAP), which has quickly grown into one of Europe's leading chamber orchestras. The orchestra employs period technique for the string parts and ancient instruments for the brass and timpani, and the performance is full of vitality and songfulness. This is the first of a complete Beethoven symphony cycle that will be completed in 2024, after the complete performances and recordings of the Schubert and Mendelssohn symphonies are completed. The works are extremely informative and seem to shine in a new light. The artwork for the complete collection is by Jorinde Forkt, an active European artist.\"Anyone who wants to record the complete Beethoven symphonies asks, 'Is it necessary?' So we waited...Six or seven years ago, we played nine symphonies all at once in one weekend in Potsdam. Considering the concentration required to prepare for the performance, we had to play them all at once in a short period of time. It was\/is a unique experience, and I also wanted to record for five days. Schubert's complete symphonies are fewer in number than Beethoven's, so I was able to get started right away. Mendelssohn had even fewer complete works, so I had no hesitation. This year is my twelfth year at KAP. Now the time was ripe for Beethoven. The first of the complete works, Symphonies No. 1 and No. 2 and No. 7, were recorded in session during the pandemic. As soon as we were allowed to perform as an orchestra indoors, we started immediately. When we record, we are not expressing some opinion, but asking questions. We approach rehearsals as if we were seeing the piece for the first time. Christophe Franke was responsible for the production. He is able to communicate with us as if we were playing together on the piano. We did a detailed recording in the session, but we invited a very small number of people we knew to play the piece through as if it were a concert. This was very important for us to understand the concept of the piece.\" (Antonello Manacorda) Antonello Manacorda is a conductor born in Turin in 1970.
