Gramophone magazine praised Kraft as \"a man tirelessly devoted to the music of our time,\" and to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth, we are pleased to announce the release of the Kraft\/Stravinsky CDs on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kraft, who published important works on Stravinsky and 20th century music, not only as a conductor but also as a writer and heir to the Stravinsky Foundation, and also devoted himself to publishing scores. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Kraft\/Stravinsky Foundation, with the full cooperation of the Kraft\/Stravinsky Foundation, has compiled all of the Columbia recordings on 44 CDs to commemorate his achievements. ◎ Stravinsky's trusted musician, Kraft was born on October 20, 1923 in Kingston, New York, and became a fan of Stravinsky's music at the age of 12, studying at the Juilliard School and then at the Tanglewood Music Festival Berkshire Music Center where he studied with Koussevitzky. He studied in rehearsals and formed friendships with young composers such as Bernstein, Harvey Shapiro, and Irving Fein. 24 years old, Kraft made his debut as a conductor, and his own concerts included \"A Soldier's Tale,\" \"Dumbarton Oaks,\" and the Octet Kraft wrote directly to Stravinsky to deepen their exchange, until finally, in 1948, Stravinsky appeared as conductor at Kraft's concerts and took up a revised version of the \"Symphony for Wind Instruments. The composer, recognizing the young man's talent, invited Kraft to his Hollywood home as his musical assistant and secretary for his own composition and conducting activities.Kraft assisted Stravinsky in his concerts of his own compositions commissioned from around the world and in his recording projects for Columbia beginning in the 1960s. He also shared the podium with the composer at concerts and began recording under the composer's supervision (CD40, 42-44).
