Rachel Portman (1960-) was born in Hazlemere, Surrey, England, UK, and began composing at the age of 14. She studied music at Worcester College, Oxford University, and has worked on Mike Leigh's \"July, A Fourth Day\" and Jim Henson's \"Storyteller\" series He has also gained experience in drama music for BBC and Channel 4 films, including \"The Life of a Duchess\" and \"The Duke and Duchess of Wales. He has written over 100 scores for film, television, and theater, including \"The Life of a Duchess,\" \"Oliva Twist,\" \"Crisis of America,\" \"Don't Let Me Go,\" \"The Beloved,\" \"The Legend of Bagger Vance,\" \"My Wonderful Life,\" \"Fairy Godmother,\" and \"One Day: A 23 Year Love Story.
