The German period-instrument wind ensemble Capella de la Torre, which specializes in medieval and Renaissance music, began a four-part album on the theme of the four elements in 2015, and \"Earth\" is the final installment. Here, members of the RIAS Chamber Choir join the ensemble in six chapters of \"Earth Music,\" featuring motets, psalms, secular chansons, and dances by Schütz, Gabrieli, Malvezzi, Gastoldi, Costley, Byrd, Cavalli, Holborn, Praetorius, and others. The collection includes vocal and instrumental pieces from Renaissance and Baroque music, selected from a wide range of compositions. What these works depict is a great arc through music from the creation of the earth to its subterranean treasures such as gold and silver, and to the earth that nurtures mankind. In this album, elements and images related to the earth or the earth itself are evoked in various ways by 16th- and 17th-century music.Gabrieli's \"Sing Joyfully to God,\" Estebao de Brito's \"Creator of Light,\" and Gastoldi's \"Love Triumphant\" ponder the creation of the earth. Gallus' \"Perilous,\" Schutz's \"Oh, what great and wondrous works\" and Costley's \"The earth breathes in great waters\" depict the nurturing earth. The chapter \"The Underground Depths of the Earth\" is represented by \"1000 Dukaten Gold Coins\" by Susart, \"Das Bergwerk woll'n wir preisen\" by Melchior Frank, and \"Branl of Lorraine\" by Pretorius. In \"The Earth and Its Melancholy,\" the work is dedicated to the emotion of melancholy with \"The Statue of Melancholy\" by Holborn and \"Though Sorrowful and Melancholy\" by Josquin des Prez. The final chapter, \"The Earth and Its Fruits,\" concludes grandly with Schütz's magnum opus, the psalm \"The Earth is the Lord's.\"                                                                                    Sony Music\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"DHM Deutsche Harmonia Mundi","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":48057904693537,"sku":"194397792324","price":2690.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/194397792324.jpg?v=1707348532","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/194397792324","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
