The Berlin-based "Vision String Quartet" (VSQ), founded in 2012, is one of the most distinguished string quartets of its generation. The VSQ's repertoire includes not only the best classical string quartets, but also their own original compositions and arrangements of jazz, rock, and popular music. The VSQ is moving forward with this unique musical endeavor with the mission of bringing together and inclusively engaging new generations and traditional classical music fans regarding how classical music is expressed and received in our time. The unique style of performance, in which the entire program is performed standing up and from memory, has been praised for its strong sense of unity with the music and for the vivid impression it leaves.The debut disc, "Schubert, Mendelssohn: String Quartets" (9029.530955), released in January 2020, received high praise for its "hybrid of old-world sensibilities and modern sensibilities, with a fusion of the glossy song of the violins and the brilliant contrast of the sharp rhythmic angles of the violas and cellos" and The album has been highly acclaimed. This second album, "Spectrum," features 13 songs written, arranged, and produced by these four young musicians from Berlin themselves. Inspired by folk, pop, rock, funk, minimalist, and singer-songwriter music, they embarked on a journey into their own unique sound. The result is an unprecedented musical adventure without borders, shaped by personal experiences, encounters with the old and new, and subtle impressions from different cultures.
