Since then, he has consistently released albums. In March 2020, he released his 11th album, *The Mirror*. Born on March 14, 1966 (Year of the Fire Horse) in New Mexico, Raul has been blind since birth. He is known as a dedicated scholar and a man of great intellect. He taught himself music and the guitar, eventually becoming self-sufficient through his music.

During his college years, he spent all his time in the library, learning about things he didn’t know. Back then, researching things was difficult, but songs like “All the Answers” (from the 2007 album *A World Within a World*), which reflects on how the advent of the internet has made it possible to find answers to anything with a simple search, demonstrate just how much he loves learning and how insatiable his thirst for knowledge is. Raúl Midón—who has honed his guitar skills, mimics the sound of a trumpet with his mouth, and performs his own compositions—carefully observes the world despite being blind and weaves his lyrics with a rich vocabulary.

His new album, *The Mirror*, features an impressive lineup of guest artists. These include jazz vibraphonist Joe Rock, Andrés Forrero on drums, Richard Hammond on bass, Janis Siegel (of Manhattan Transfer) on backing vocals, and Gary Alesbrook on trumpet.

Here, he incorporates narrative elements—speech and narration—from the pre-rap era of Black music. According to Raul, he was consciously inspired by records by poets like Gil Scott-Heron from that era.

[Members]
Raul Midon (g—all tracks, vo—all tracks, charango—3, programming—3, 7, banjo—8)
Gary Alesbrook (tp—4)
Vincent Cherico (ds—4, 6, 9)
Johndi Martino (piano—tracks 4, 6)
Andres Forero (drums, percussion—tracks 1, 3, 5, 7)
Richard Hammond (electric bass—tracks 1, 3, 5, 7)
Lauren Kinhan (background vocals-1)
Boris Kozlov (upright bass-4, 6, 9)
Joe Locke (vibraphone-6)
Romeir Mendez (upright bass-10)
Janis Siegel (background vocals-1)
Billy Williams (drums-10)

Tracklisting:

1.I Love The Afternoon
2.If I Could See
3.You're The One
4.Disguise
5.I Really Want To See You again
6.A Certain Cafe
7.The Mirror
8.One Day Without War
9.Cold Cuts And Coffee
10.Deep Dry Ocean
