A new recording of \"Symphony No. 3\" is now available!　Ramon Gamba, who inherited the legacy of the late Hickox and Handley, and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, a wonderful orchestra from a small country in Northern Europe, have created the third collection of orchestral works by Vincent d'Indy (1851-1931)!　The first collection (CHAN 10464) was nominated for a Grammy Award, and the second collection was named Editor's Choice in the June 2009 issue of Gramophone magazine. The highlight of the third collection is the Symphony No. 3, which has been newly recorded for quite some time! This World War I battle on the French mainland was the origin of this great work from 1916-18, which is filled with Dandy's patriotic feelings for his homeland. All four works in the collection, including the saxophone versions of \"Chorale Variations\" and \"Istar\" with Sigurður Frosason, the best of Icelandic jazz, and \"Mediterranean Diptych,\" written in the fullness of life after his second marriage, are ideal for understanding Dandy's appeal. The day is near when Vincent d'Indy's music will be restored in earnest--and the day is near!
