V.

Description:

The year 2013 also marked the 100th anniversary of the death of two great French artists, Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) and Edith Piaf (1915-1963). Poulenc was a leading composer of the French sextet, and he was a great admirer of the poet Jean Cocteau. Jean Cocteau was a great friend of the singer Edith Piaf. It is said that Poulenc got to know Piaf through Cocteau, and although the genres in which they worked were different, there is no doubt that they had a great influence on each other. Poulenc respected Piaf (Parisian slang for a sparrow), and his Improvisation No. 15 is dedicated directly to Piaf. When you listen to their music side by side, you will find that it fits together surprisingly well. The personalities of these two lovers of freedom and solitude are now beautifully fused here.
