Our job is simply to humbly, but confidently, release the sound (again) and bring it to the audience's ears." It has been 20 years since Kremer's recording for Philips. Twenty years after his recording for Philips, Kremer once again took up the challenge of performing Bach's unaccompanied works, the highest achievement for any violinist. Why now? What will he aim for after having accomplished this?" It is not enough to simply say that this is a long-awaited recording, but rather that it is a release in which a profound will can be felt. Kremer's writings in the booklet (the music commentary is also by Kremer), however, are reminiscent of an enlightened high priest. The violinist's awe for Bach and his music, yet his humility as a performer is evident, and one cannot help but wonder what Kremer has accomplished in his 20 years of playing. And the acknowledgments to the recording staff that appear repeatedly in his own writings. In fact, ECM's unique sound policy perfectly produces what is not the performer's domain. It is no exaggeration to say that this is one of the most complete recordings of Bach's unaccompanied works ever made, made possible by the close collaboration between the artist and the label.

Tracklisting:

1.Sonata for solo violin No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001: Adagio
2.Sonata for solo violin No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001: Fuga.
