Sorry for the wait. The second Haydn album by Deljavina is now available! Following the complete Haydn piano sonatas (PH12037), Deljavina's second Haydn album is a collection of Haydn's small pieces, mainly variations. Following the previous release, which was much talked about for its unique interpretation of Haydn's works in the standard style, this new release also presents a surprisingly fresh Haydn image. Although the titles of the works seem to be the same, "Capriccio" is based on the German folk song "The Eight Feckless Tailors," "12 Variations" is based on the theme of the minuet from String Quartet No. 20, and "Variations in F minor" is full of sorrowful emotions, which is uncharacteristic of Haydn. The second movement of Variations on the theme of the Austrian (now German) National Anthem from the String Quartet No. 77, "Emperor," is the ultimate in beauty and prestige, even in the piano version. Ekaterina Derzhavina was born in 1967 and studied at the Gnesin Music School under Vladimir Trop, and taught at her alma mater from 1993 to 2006 and at the Moscow Conservatory since 2003. She is a gem of talent who has been attracting attention in Japan after performing at the Forgernay Music Festival. King International
