Unaccompanied flute piece by Timothy Archambault I inspired by the indigenous Brontomancy. It represents different extended flute techniques that are metaphorically related to different types of thunder sounds such as claps, peals, rolls, rumbles, and inversions. The flutes used in this work are made of cedar wood traditionally used by the Chesipilini and other tribes living along the Ottawa and St. Lawrence rivers. Originally, the flute was used for more meditative purposes, to mimic the sounds of nature and as a signal during times of conflict. The slightly lonely sound of the flute resonates as a timeless sound.
