Trio Lirico, led by Peach, presents its third concert featuring Ysaye, Dohnányi, Kodály, and Eötvösz! The Trio Lirico, led by violinist Francesca Peach, who has many fans in Japan, was founded in 2014 and has performed a wide range of classical, modern, and newly commissioned works. The trio has released "Reger" (AU-97714) and "Weinberg, Penderecki, Schnittke" (AU-97753). The cellist Johannes Krebs, who has been with the group since its inception, has been replaced by a new member, Hilla Karni, starting with this album. Carni is a cellist of note, having participated in the recording of Max Richter's "On the Nature of Daylight" (DG). This album, "Treasures," features early 20th century Belgian and Hungarian works by Ysaÿe, Dohnányi, and Kodály. These works, which incorporate Impressionist elements and folk music, are excellent pieces that open up a wide range of styles and new expressions of string trio music. Chimay," a single movement string trio by Ysaÿe, is named after the composer's hometown. The members of Trio Lirico describe this work as "like a river flowing through a landscape. Written in 1927, at the end of Ysaye's life and career, it is a secret work that reveals a side of the "lyricist Ysaye" who was not only a "virtuoso" but also a musician who gave music beauty of sound, richness of color, and depth of thought, among other things. This is a secret piece that gives us a glimpse into the music. Eötvös's String Trio was written as a memorial to Christophe Desjardins (1962-2020), a violinist and viola player who was highly regarded for his contemporary music. It is a haunting string trio that utilizes a variety of performance techniques, modes of expression, and soundscapes, and Eötvös himself highly praised his interpretation of the "Trio Lirico".
