JD Souther is an important singer/songwriter in the history of pop music and an indispensable part of the West Coast Rock scene in the 70's. He started living with Glenn Frey, who formed Jackson Browne and The Eagles, in Los Angeles in the 70's. He wrote songs for Linda Ronstadt and The Eagles, and also released his own album. In 1979, he released "Your Only Lonely," which became a big hit. In 2008, he released his first album of original songs in a quarter of a century, "If the World Was You," which became a hot topic. The jazzy approach that surprised listeners with "If the World Was You" can be heard in every song on this album, making it an intimately resonant and rewarding listen. Here is a new frontier for JD Souther, who continues to evolve as a songwriter.
