Maximilian Hornung is one of the most promising cellists of his generation, having won the prestigious German Music Competition at the age of 21. In April 2014, Maximilian Hornung performed with Naoko Kawamura during his first recital tour in Japan, including the Tokyo Spring Music Festival, and was praised for his \"extended and rich sound\" and \"fascinating sound and technique. It is a difficult piece that demands great skill and characterization, especially from the solo cello. The coupling is the only cello sonata written by Strauss at the age of 18 or 19. It is a large piece in three movements with many brilliant passages typical of the late Romantic period. ＜Maximilian Hornung was born in Augsburg, Germany in 1986.He studied cello with Elder Isakadze and David Geringas, won the first prize at the 2007 German Music Competition, and was principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra until 2013.
