He is also an excellent match for Vant. This will be one of Opitz's representative recordings of the 1980s. Symphony No. 40 is a different performance from the BMG (1994). This is a haunting performance that is the very embodiment of \"galloping sadness\". Vandt has performed many of the No. 40 symphonies, but this is the best performance in terms of clarity of sound, lack of looseness, and dignity.The excessively rich reverberation of the Musikhalle in both Schumann's 1983 and Mozart's 1990 recordings has been moderately suppressed, as is typical of broadcast recordings, and the sound is clear and appealing. The clear sound is also a must for the listener.
