This is a new recording of Latvian diva Marina Rebeka, released on the Prima Classic label she founded. As her previous albums have been collections of arias and songs with orchestral accompaniment, this is her first recital album with piano accompaniment, and is a very ambitious and good project, a collection of songs composed by French female and male composers on texts in French and foreign languages (Italian, German, and Russian). The songs included in this recital are all written by French women and men composers. Most of the melodies in this recital were composed between 1860 and 1890, at the threshold of the Belle Epoque and the Second Industrial Revolution.Another important point is that the program includes works by great composers such as Duparc, Ravel, Saint-Saëns, Vidor, Fauré, and Gounod, as well as talented women composers such as Cécile Chaminade, Marie Jaëlle, and Pauline Viardot. Marina Rebeka and French collaborative pianist Mathieu Poldois present a colorful musical presentation of this diverse repertoire, taking us on a voyage of 19th century musical brilliance.
