Mielczewski was a musician in the royal chapel in Warsaw and the court music director of Karol Ferdinand Waza, the brother of King Władysław IV of Poland. Mielczewski, who actively used the concertato style, inherited the traditions of Italian and Venetian music, and at the same time, he is known for adopting Polish folk songs and melodies in his own works, as in the \"Missa o Gloriosa Domina\" (Mass \"Oh, Virgin of Glory\").
