K. 488, with Karajan conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.\n\nGieseking and Karajan's collaboration began in 1935 with a performance of Beethoven's \"Emperor\" concerto in Aachen. They continued to deepen their relationship through performances with the Berlin State Opera Orchestra during the war, including Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in 1941 and Schumann's Piano Concerto in 1944. After the war, a recording project with the Philharmonia Orchestra at Kingsway Hall in London under the renowned producer Walter Legg brought them together again.\n\nFor the first time, the entire concert, which took place in Lucerne on August 12, 1954, is presented in its entirety. In addition to Mozart's concerto, the recording includes orchestral works by Richard Strauss and Berlioz.
