Four songs from the opera *Alexis Kivi* (three songs, excluding the third, “O World, O Life”), which sing of the inner world of the poet Kivi. The soloist on this album is the Stockholm-born baritone Gabriel Suovanen (1977–). On the complete recording of *Alexis Kivi* (ODE1000), he sang the role of the young Kivi. He is joined by Segerstam (1944–), who recorded *The Angel of Light* (ODE869), and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. The booklet includes the original poems in English, German, Swedish, and Finnish, along with English translations.
