A unique and lovable new album "QUICKIES" is completed.

The Magic Fields, led by the brilliant Stephin Merritt, emerged in the U.S. in the 1990s and has continued to mix live instruments with cheap electronic instruments to create songs full of ideas, showing various faces on each album. The band's main member, Stefin, is a lyricist with an exquisite balance of witty, rich words and painfully sharp observations.

Steffin Merritt is free to take even the most eccentric and experimental themes and turn them into works of art. He explains the concept of this work, "QUICKIES," as follows: "I've been working on a palm fiction novel for a while now. I've been reading a lot of short stories recently, and I'm working on a book of short poems myself called 101 Two-Letter Words, which is a collection of short poems that I use in Scrabble. I've also been listening to a lot of French Baroque harpsichord music. But the harpsichord doesn't seem to have much to do with languor. So I would think about one instrument, play it for a minute or so, stop, and repeat, all the while thinking about lyrics that were only a few lines long."

The result is "Quickies". The album contains 28 songs, all of which are very short pieces of less than 3 minutes in length. Some of them are a little over a minute, and some are less than a minute. The collection contains palm-length music that could almost be called sound clips. The songs, born of Steffin's keen observations mixed with humor and sarcasm, are a musical collage that captures his current state of mind. The titles of the songs already released, such as "The Day The Politicians Died" and "Kraftwerk in a Blackout," are also interesting.

'I used a whole bunch of little notebooks, and even if I got to the end of the page, it would only be a short sentence. Now that I'm already working on another album, I've imposed on myself the rule of using big notes, so I don't make two in a row like 'Quickies.'"

In addition to THE MAGNETIC FIELDS, Stephin's wide-ranging activities include music for theatrical productions, including the music for an Off-Broadway production adapted from Neil Gaiman's novel "CORALINE," and background music for the first music episode of the US public radio program "This American Life. Stefan has been involved in a wide range of activities. His unique and beloved work "QUICKIES" is sure to captivate listeners once again.
Tracklisting:

1.Castles of America2.The Biggest Tits in History3.The Day the Politicians Died4.Castle Down a Dirt Road5.Bathroom Quickie6.My Stupid Boyfriend7.Love Gone Wrong8.Favorite Bar9.Kill a Man a Week10.Kraftwerk in a Blackout11.When She Plays the Toy Piano12.Death Pact (Let's Make A)13.I've Got a Date with Jesus14.Come, Life, Shaker Life!15.(I Want to Join A) Biker Gang16.Rock 'n' Roll Guy17.You've Got a Friend in Beelzebub18.Let's Get Drunk Again (And Get Divorced)19.The Best Cup of Coffee in Tennessee20.When the Brat Upstairs Got a Drum Kit
1.Castles of America
2.The Biggest Tits in History
3.The Day the Politicians Died
4.Castle Down a Dirt Road
5.Bathroom Quickie
6.My Stupid Boyfriend
7.Love Gone Wrong
8.Favorite Bar
9.Kill a Man a Week
10.Kraftwerk in a Blackout
11.When She Plays the Toy Piano
12.Death Pact (Let's Make A)
13.I've Got a Date with Jesus
14.Come, Life, Shaker Life!
15.(I Want to Join A) Biker Gang
16.Rock 'n' Roll Guy
17.You've Got a Friend in Beelzebub
18.Let's Get Drunk Again (And Get Divorced)
19.The Best Cup of Coffee in Tennessee
20.When the Brat Upstairs Got a Drum Kit
